This is a wonderfully written and illustrated book for all ages.Tells a very simple tale that will resonate with all cultures and age groups. The overall message is one of hope, and inspiration and working through your pain and difficulties to triumph in life. There is also a message of being compassionate while being firm and insisting on "kicking the bird out of the nest".Highly recommended!
Such an inspirational message. To spread your wings and fly is a theme that has been done before, but Addo-Nkum has written a simple, yet emotional and dynamic tale. With compassionate characters, in a simple African village, he illustrates bond between the hunter and eagle wonderfully. Apparently, even eagles have self doubt at times and need support of a kind friend to just let go of fear and take flight!
So glad to celebrate with you dear author Kofi! I will read this folktale with my school children. This is a story of lessons in life such as freedom, destiny and purpose for all God's creations. Congratulations!!!
Thank you Kofi Addo-Nkum for sharing this simple yet powerful folktale. You made it easy to imagine hearing the voice of my own father reading to me when I was a child. Perfect for reading aloud. Perfectly illustrated.
A story that inculcates in our readers the spirit of perseverance and its benefits. I am particularly happy with the use of appropriate words that would help improve the wealth of words in readers. Though the story seems to be for children, I think adults could benefit immensely because it can build the vocabulary base of readers. The graphics make more interesting reading. I would recommend it to everybody, especially, those who are afraid of voluminous books.
At first, I thought Mr. Kofi's book was for children, but it is not. It is a touching example for all of us. This folktale reminds us of our duty and privilege to care for any wounded creature, human or animal, and if possible, help restore it, to function in the way it was created.
It has everything that a great children's book should have: a simple, easy to follow storyline, short sentences, and great illustrations. Perfect for any age child; it's also a nice introduction to the concept of exploring another culture.
This is a wonderful tale that teaches an important lesson to those both young and old. Highly recommend!
