I have been an avid follower of Professor Valter Longo’s work and studies since first seeing a BBC Documentary in 2012 - Eat, Fast & Live Longer. This man is nothing short of a genius. Having gone through my own health problems: Bulimia, then a massive benign tumour in my head which lead me to an operation and then into intensive radiation treatment I found his studies fascinating, insightful & inspiring to me personally & I wanted to know & learn more. Over the past 2 decades I have either been, bulimic, vegan, vegetarian, or now for the last 15 years pescatarian at which time I had no idea that such a name even existed. When I found out that Professor Longo had written a book on Longevity I couldn’t wait for it to be published in English. I have a Kindle copy and a book from Amazon UK. His book has given me so much knowledge that I didn’t previously have and the information is easy enough to process if you take the trouble. For me, where his book stands out from many other books is that most of the information in this book is based on his own studies and research from throughout his 30 something years of study & research on Longevity. There are no gimmicks just straightforward facts on longevity & how to proceed with his longevity diet with the everyday fruits, vegetables, legumes etc. that we find in our supermarkets or farmers markets. He clearly explains why & which fruits, veg etc are better for you. How simple can it be to follow a mostly plant-based diet - but the truth be known for most of us is that we will continue to eat bad & fast food until the heart attack hits or our cholesterol is through the roof, or like so many people in the Western World we develop diabetes. He clearly explains how we can avoid or correct these problems by using his longevity diet. The book is entertaining as well as full of necessary, important information for living a longer & disease- free life. Prevention is always better than cure. I am a writer and in my own research I have read many, many articles with misinformed information, on many different subjects & I only want facts & proven studies as in this book. Lastly, 100% of all the royalties from Professor Longo’s books go back into his research, another great reason to purchase the book. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.

This is a book about outstanding scientific breakthroughs that can have a tangible impact on human longevity. The Fasting Mimicking diet is really a method of going through a molecular-level rejuvenation without feeling starved. While it leads the body into the ketogenic state, it is far healthier and safer than the known keto diets and should not be confused with these! It’s a result of three decades of brilliant research by Dr Longo and his team. It may be the most important book you’ve read! I’m very glad I did.

I kind of did things backwards. I discovered Dr. Longo on YouTube and decided to try his Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD) via ProLon (his company) before reading this book. I had completed my first 5-day FMD before reading this paperback. I regard this book as among the first of many books to come which will try to consider diet in the context of the current state of research on diet and health. Another book I would recommend is The Longevity Code by Kris Verburgh. Apart from the extensive discussion of the state of research on the impact of diet, this is primarily NOT a book for weight loss. It is more of a book for avoiding the debilitating effects of aging. There are extensive chapters which discuss the impact of FMD on diabetes, cardiovascular function, cancer and Alzheimer. If you have any of these conditions or are at risk for any of these conditions, the book is well worth reading.

I like that I am learning how to properly DIET and now know more about living longer. I really enjoy reading this book. Get this book, it is a must read for people who want to lose weight through Fasting Method.

I was very excited about this IMF diet and loved the science behind it. I read it in one day and was ready to start up when I got to the end and found out that is you are over 70 (which I am) you shouldn't use this plan. Yikes! I would have shared with my daughter but she is a Type I diabetic, again don't use this plan. Very well written and presented.

Although I'm a firm believe in this man's contribution to the science of longevity and fasting this book was a tough read from the standpoint of him pushing his products with bloated prices and his self-absorption. Not a lot critical information to get you started on any sort of fasting without still doing all the homework yourself. The pushing of his product line is absurd. I much preferred Eat.Stop.Eat by Brad Polin. If I could get my money back I would. It was that bad. I have never written a negative review about a health and wellness book but I had to in this case.

This will become a classic ,a balance no nonsense approach to healthy living.Health span extension .....robust research.....Love it...

Dr. Longo comes across as being very down to earth. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and look forward to investigating this diet further.
